Batavia, NY (Hybrid•mix of fieldwork, remote, and office-based work)

$22•25/hour, depending on experience and qualifications About the
Role:
We're seeking an entry-level Field Technician to support habitat restoration, ecological assessments, and vegetation management projects. This role is hands-on and physically active, with opportunities to contribute directly to meaningful conservation outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with invasive species management, including mechanical and chemical methods Perform threatened and endangered species surveys and construction monitoring Support habitat restoration and management projects, including planting/seeding Conduct ecological fieldwork, including wetland delineations, vegetation surveys, habitat assessments, and restoration monitoring Collect and manage field data using GPS, mobile apps, and spreadsheets Aid with maps, reports, and permit documents Collaborate with project managers and senior scientists on a variety of ecological projects Participate in seasonal field projects, which includes travel and physically demanding work
Qualifications:
Required:
Bachelor's degree in ecology, biology, environmental science, natural resources, or a related field. At least 1-2 years of experience in ecological fieldwork, environmental consulting, or applied natural resource management. Working knowledge of wildlife surveys, invasive species management, and ecological assessment techniques. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Clear written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
Familiarity with plant identification in the Northeast US. Proficiency with GPS data collection, ArcGIS, and Microsoft 365. Ability to identify birds by sight and sound, especially grassland and marsh birds. NYS Pesticide Applicator/Technician License What It's Like to Work at
