Postdoctoral Associate
The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
Required Qualifications:
(as evidenced by an attached resume) Doctoral Degree (or foreign equivalent) in Physiology, Pharmacology or a closely related field in hand by the start of the appointment.Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in renal physiology and renal tubular ion transport is preferred. However, many other disciplines may overlap with the interests of the lab. In particular the lab is focused on how serum lipids (and, in turn plasma membrane lipid) composition may alter and/or enhance cation transport in the thick ascending limb and collecting duct, leading to the development of systemic hypertension. Therefore, those scientists with expertise in lipids and/or membrane biology would also be strongly considered.Job Description:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator Dr. Rajeev Rohatgi in the Department of Medicine-Division of Nephrology & Hypertension.The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
Specific Duties:
- Manage animal colony; isolate and collect tissue from mice, perform western blotting, blood pressure measurement, metabolic cage experiment, measure tissue and serum cholesterol and lipid content, ElISA, cell culture.
- Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
- Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of Renal physiology.
- Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing
- Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed
- Collaborate well with others in the laboratory
- Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
