Job Title:
Associate Scientist Job Description We are seeking a dedicated Associate Scientist to join our team, responsible for planning and executing in vivo mouse immunization studies. This role involves tasks such as mouse handling, injections (subcutaneous, footpad, intraperitoneal, intravenous), blood sampling, and conducting ELISA-based assays to measure antibody responses. The ideal candidate will also perform multi-color flow cytometry staining and analysis, primary B cell culture, and present data in various group settings. Additionally, the role includes optimizing strategies to elicit robust B cell responses in vivo, characterizing B cell development in genetically engineered mice, and developing approaches to characterize plasma cell responses. Responsibilities Plan and execute in vivo mouse immunization studies. Handle mice and perform injections (subcutaneous, footpad, intraperitoneal, intravenous). Conduct blood sampling and ELISA-based assays to measure antibody responses. Perform multi-color flow cytometry staining and analysis. Cultivate primary B cell cultures. Present data in small and large group settings. Optimize strategies to elicit robust B cell responses in vivo. Characterize B cell development in genetically engineered mice. Develop approaches to characterize plasma cell responses. Essential Skills Bachelor's degree or Master's degree with at least 2 years of experience in a cellular immunology research laboratory. Experience with vaccination, tissue isolation, blood sampling, multi-parameter flow cytometry, and ELISA. Additional Skills & Qualifications Knowledge of B cell and plasma cell biology. Experience in primary culture of B cells and plasma cells. Work Environment This position is part of the VI Next Team, responsible for investigating antibodies in the Technology and Discovery Centers. The team studies methods to elicit robust B cell responses and develop approaches to characterize and isolate B cells of interest. The work takes place in a vivarium and laboratory environment and is onsite five days a week, from 8 am to 5 pm. The company offers a vibrant workplace culture with a gym and cafeteria onsite, and plans for a fully staffed daycare within five years. Contract employees are entitled to 40 hours of sick leave, 40 hours of vacation (both accrued), and all observed holidays. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Tarrytown, NY. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
