The Tang Lab at the University of Virginia School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate with a background in cellular and molecular biology. Our research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of R-loop regulation, DNA-protein crosslinks (DPCs), and their contributions to genome instability in cancer and congenital human disorders.

Current research interests include:

• R-loop biology and transcription-replication conflicts (TRCs)
• DNA-protein crosslink (DPC) formation, repair, and consequences
• Genome instability mechanisms in cancer and congenital disorders
• Development of novel tools for locus-specific chromatin and R-loop interrogation Our ultimate goal is to elucidate the molecular mechanisms by which R-loops and DPCs drive genome instability — with the potential to inform the development of novel therapeutics for related human diseases.

QUALIFICATIONS

Doctoral degree, preferably PhD in Cell Biology, Genetics and Genomics, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or a related Biomedical Science discipline First-author publication(s) in high-impact peer-reviewed journals and prior experience with live-cell imaging, genomics, and/or protein expression and purification is preferred

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. This is a 12-month appointment with the possibility of renewal (for an additional two, one-year increments) contingent upon satisfactory performance and the availability of funding.
