Job Title:
Metals/General Chemistry Lab Technician Job Description Join our Wheat Ridge, CO laboratory as an entry-level Lab Technician! You will be responsible for preparing samples with precision and accuracy according to analytical SOPs. The role requires both independent work and teamwork to meet daily production targets, ensuring that hold times and turnaround times are consistently achieved. Safe laboratory practices and maintaining a secure working environment are paramount. Responsibilities Independently prepare samples for analysis using department-specific instrumentation and analytical methodologies after appropriate training. Perform routine operation, maintenance, and calibration of preparation instruments and equipment. Assist with validation and MDL studies as needed. Input and maintain technical information to support laboratory functions and operations. Maintain a Laboratory Notebook where applicable. Adhere to internal standards, policies, and procedures. Handle samples intake, weighing of soil samples, digestions, and monitor instrumentation. Load samples into instrumentation and prepare samples from larger tubes into smaller tubes. Perform other duties as required. Essential Skills Basic understanding of chemistry and wet chemistry processes. Ability to follow SOPs and maintain quality control. Basic proficiency in English language skills. Basic mathematical and reasoning skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull upwards of 25 lbs frequently. Additional Skills & Qualifications High school diploma is required. An Associate's Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline is preferred. 1-2 years of relevant experience in analytical chemistry laboratories is preferred. Career path opportunities to train on advanced instrumentation such as ICP-MS and GC-MS. Work Environment This position is based in a high-volume production environmental lab, with project-oriented and deadline-driven work. The role operates on a 1st shift schedule, Monday to Friday from 8am to 5pm, including a lunch break. Training will occur during the assigned shift. The position offers the opportunity for uncapped overtime before the shift or on weekends, subject to supervisor approval, to handle organization, waste disposal, and sample disposal tasks. The busiest times are typically at month-end. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wheat Ridge, CO. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $22.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
