Job Description

R&D Chemist The Senior R&D Chemist and Assistant of Technical Manager is an important part of the creative R&D team. This self-motivated individual is responsible for all the steps of formula development, from stability to full production scale up. Primary responsibilities are the innovation of new products, revising/reformulating existing formulas, and implementing cost savings. The Senior R&D Chemist and Assistant of Technical Manager is also responsible for ensuring correct recording of lab and quality records in compliance with SOPs and conducting routine sample analyses. Job Duties & Responsibilities R&D (70%) Research new concepts and materials to develop creative and innovative applications and products. Coordinate and manage formulation lab activities in support of the business needs. Determine product specifications and expiration dates. Oversee, support, and provide guidance in scale-up processing. Apply strict attention to detail and thorough record-keeping. Maintain and record stability data on formulations. Evaluate results to identify issues and make recommendations for solutions. Have up to date knowledge on regulatory information. Work independently with limited supervision using good judgment. May be responsible for other duties as needed. Quality (20%) Conduct routine sample analyses of raw materials, batch samples, and finished cosmetic products. Calibrate lab equipment according to SOPs. Support Quality Operations (production bulk approval, FG product release, non-conformance process, change control, etc.) Regulatory (10%) Have up to date knowledge on regulatory information. Research new materials and technologies to deliver products that meet applicable regulations. Help maintain the raw material compliance library. Required Qualifications Skincare or cosmetic company formulation experience for at least 5 years Laboratory experience with a strong background in cosmetic formulation and product development for at least 3 years Experience of laboratory equipment such as FTIR, viscometer, and pH meter. Basic computer knowledge including Excel and Word. Ability to handle multiple tasks and be detail oriented. Excellent written and oral communication skills On Site work required (within 20 miles of residence) Bachelor's Degree in cosmetic science, pharmaceutical science, biology, chemistry, or related field
