Job Title:
Analytical Scientist Job Description The Analytical Scientist leads unknown compound identification using advanced mass spectrometry techniques to support pharmaceutical, medical device, and extractables and leachables (E&L) studies. This role requires deep expertise in LC/MS, strong regulatory knowledge, and the ability to provide technical leadership in solving complex analytical challenges within a cGMP/GLP environment. Responsibilities Lead unknown peak and compound identification usingLC/MS, LC
‑MS/MS, and high‑resolution mass spectrometry (LC‑HRMS) in support of pharmaceutical, medical device, and E&L studies. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot LC/MS and high‑resolution MS systems to ensure high data quality and instrument reliability. Interpret complex mass spectrometry data, including fragmentation patterns, to support structure elucidation and structure confirmation. Investigate and resolve analytical challenges related to methods, instrumentation, and complex sample matrices, proposing and implementing effective solutions. Prepare, review, and approve technical reports, study protocols, and regulatory documentation in alignment with relevant guidelines (including ISO‑18 and USP / ). Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams and Quality Assurance to communicate results, address study needs, and provide expert technical guidance. Mentor, train, and support junior scientists in mass spectrometry techniques, unknown identification strategies, and best practices in analytical chemistry. Stay current with emerging analytical technologies, mass spectrometry methodologies, and regulatory expectations, and drive continuous improvement in laboratory practices and workflows. Essential Skills PhD in Analytical Chemistry or a closely related field. At least 5 years of industry experience in analytical chemistry or a related discipline. Strong expertise in LC/MS and high‑resolution mass spectrometry, including LC‑MS/MS and LC‑HRMS. Deep understanding of mass spectrometry principles, fragmentation behavior, and structure elucidation strategies. Solid organic chemistry with practical structure‑confirmation skills. Experience working in GLP, GMP, and ISO‑regulated laboratory environments. Proficiency with mass spectrometry software platforms, with experience in Sciex OS and Thermo/Chromeleon preferred. Strong problem‑solving skills with a proven ability to troubleshoot methods, instruments, and complex analytical issues. Clear and effective written and verbal communication skills for technical reporting and cross‑functional collaboration. Demonstrated ability to mentor and train junior scientists. Additional Skills & Qualifications Experience with GC/MS as a complementary technique to LC/MS. analytical chemistry applied to pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device studies. Familiarity with extractables and leachables (E&L) studies and related regulatory expectations. Ability to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and implement new analytical technologies. Strong collaboration skills and a team‑oriented mindset in a multidisciplinary laboratory environment. Work Environment This is a fully onsite role, based in a laboratory environment operating under cGMP/GLP and ISO standards. The position requires working on site five days per week, Monday through Friday, during standard business hours of approximately 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. You will work with advancedLC/MS, LC

Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hercules, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $64.90/hr.
