Duties/Responsibilities:
Plan, set-up and carry out controlled experiments and trials. Conduct analytical tests of various food and feed ingredients including specific gravity, viscosity, color, pH, peroxide value, free fatty acids, p-anisidine value, Oil Stability Index (OSI), OXITEST Induction Times, and quantitation of antioxidant molecules. Perform shelf-life stability testing of various food and feed applications. Operate analytical instruments such as Analytical Balance, UV-Vis Spectrophotometer, Viscometer, Auto-Titrator, Rotary Evaporator, CDR FoodLab, Oxidative Stability Instrument (OSI), OXITEST, High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) and Gas Chromatograph (GC) with a Headspace Sampler. Test incoming raw materials / chemicals. Perform finished product testing Interpret and analyze data. Compile results, prepare reports or summary. Demonstrate procedures. Collect, prepare and/or test food, pet food and feed samples. Maintain analytical equipment. Communicate technical results both verbally and written to pertinent parties. Keeps inventory of supplies and stocks on hand for laboratory use. Maintain laboratory equipment and tools in clean, safe, and good conditions. Maintains technical records and Safety Data Sheets. Follow proper waste disposal and recycling methodologies.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Food Science with some practical laboratory work experience (industrial or academic) Knowledge of laboratory tests and analyses Knowledge of laboratory terminology and equipment Ability to handle multiple samples and laboratory equipment Able to effectively contribute to a dynamic and often fast-paced, high-pressure work environment Must be proficient with MS Office programs including Excel General awareness of laboratory practices, basis statistics and product quality would be useful
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged standing in laboratory conditions. Periodic lifting, bending, twisting, and pushing. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Excellent hand-eye coordination and sharp vision are required. Ability to clean laboratory.
