Job Description

Position Summary:
Conduct qualitative and quantitative chemical analyses and/or chemical experiments in laboratories for quality or process control. Assist in developing new products or knowledge as needed.
Essential Functions:
Develop, improve, and customize, products, equipment, formulas, processes and analytical methods. Induce changes in composition of substances by introducing heat, light, energy and chemical catalysts for quantitative and qualitative analysis. Write technical papers and reports; prepare standards and specifications for processes, facilities, products and tests. Compile and analyze test information to determine process or equipment operating efficiency and to diagnose malfunctions. Prepare test solutions, compounds, and reagents for laboratory personnel to conduct tests. Work in laboratory environment wherein chemical odors may be encountered Performs assigned duties according to the current HSE laboratory safety standards Follows prescribed safety rules and regulations in performing assigned duties Collects data, documents test results, and assists in preparing reports Complete and analyze all samples accurately (water, solid, etc.) Follow written lab procedures manual and update manual if changes in procedures are made
Qualifications:
Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university Experience working in a laboratory preferred Be highly organized and able to follow a systematic method of performing a task.
Skills & Abilities:
Computer Skills:
Strong background in MS Office applications required.
Customer Service Skills:
Meet internal and external commitments, respond promptly to customer needs, and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
Work Ethic:
Be dependable, trustworthy, truthful, and credible in the workplace. Display a sincere desire to provide service or assistance, follow instructions, and take responsibility for own actions. Show a commitment to doing the best job possible.
Physical Abilities:
Lift and carry 50 pounds in various packaging. Tip and move 55 gallon drums, weighing up to 600 pounds, with the use of a drum dolly.
Work Environment:
