at IDEXX Distributions, Inc. in Westbrook, Maine, United States Job Description IDEXX is at the forefront of innovation in veterinary cytology, and we are seeking an additional Research & Development Clinical Pathologist to join oursupportive and creative Cytology Diagnostics Team on-site at our World Headquarters in Westbrook, ME . This rare opportunity will provide a niche experience where pathologists support the merging of traditional pathology and modern technology. As a Research & Development Clinical Pathologist you will collaborate on a cross-functional, multidisciplinary team-spanning clinical pathology, machine learning, medical, software engineering, and product management to help design, validate, and refine innovative solutions.

What you can expect:
Collaborate and communicate with internal stakeholders and medical partners to reach project objectives through effective exchange of information. Identify appropriate specimens for evaluation in R D, including the identification and referencing of clinically significant samples for product development Drive cross line-of-business clinical pathology perspective to ensure a seamless customer experience between in-clinic and reference lab offerings Establish laboratory processes to support generation of samples for manual (microscopy) and automated reference techniques Support peer-reviewed publication and medical educational efforts across internal and external customers for paradigm-changing products and technology Assist in development of educational curriculum and case studies for internal community, identified stakeholders and the veterinary profession. Lead presentations and discussions with key opinion leaders Collaborate with partner universities for studies supporting new product development and validation To support collaboration, we ask team members to be generally available during core business hours (Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM ET). In order to facilitate collaboration with our R D team, we are asking this role to be onsite at our Worldwide Headquarters in Westbrook, ME What do you need to succeed in this role? Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Advanced training in veterinary clinical pathology required; PhD and/or ACVP (Clinical Pathology) or ECVCP board certification preferred, with >5 years' experience. Demonstrated understanding of current topics and issues in clinical veterinary medicine Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to organize, prioritize, and plan work at individual, team, and product levels Ability to leverage technology for data analysis is preferred Extensive sitting and computer use Occasional travel
