Job Description

GEC is currently seeking a full-time Scientist/Geologist with 0-10+ years' contamination-related experience. Responsibilities & Duties Perform Phase I Environmental Site Assessments. Perform Contamination Screening Evaluation Reports. Perform Phase II/Level 2 Environmental Site Assessments. Soil classification using engineering classifications. Able to sample environmental media (soil, groundwater, surface water). Prepare proposals and price estimates. Review technical reports for completeness and accuracy. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's Degree or higher with a focus in Geology or Environmental Sciences. Must possess a valid driver's license Professional demeanor - able to work within project constraints and deadlines Perform office work including data research and interpretation, including report and proposal preparation, and report review Capable of field work including site reconnaissance, hand auger soil classification and environmental sampling assignments Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel programs Excellent written and verbal communication skills able to work within project constraints and deadlines Knowledge, Skills and Abilities A self-starter who can work independently Capable of multi-tasking and adjusting schedules on short notice Able to work overtime and on weekends as necessary Ability to interpret aerial photographs, maps, construction drawings, roadway and building plans, etc. Strong attention to detail with analytical, judgment and problem-solving capabilities Self-motivated and committed individual The following licenses, certifications and experience are considered a plus but not required: Professional Geologist (P.G.) Professional Engineer (P.E.) Environmental Professional (E.P.) 40-Hour
