Job Description AECOM is seeking a motivated Environmental Scientist/Geologist to support the Environmental business line from the Omaha, Nebraska AECOM office, primarily working on Department of Defense (DoD) projects. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to: Plan, execute, analyze and report on environmental measures in natural systems. Utilize basic scientific principles, theories, practices and existing technologies to develop solutions for technical problems with limited scope. Interpret and record data, conduct analyses, compare findings to relevant studies and local, state and federal regulations to ensure compliance. Apply knowledge of natural sciences (chemistry, physics, biology, hydrology, and mathematics) to explain observations. Review analytical data for general indicators of quality for routine analyses based on well-defined guidelines. Prepare technical documents and proposals. Prepare advanced data and scientific documents. Provide technical expertise support. Engage in study/training on contaminants and remediation of the environment. Perform unsupervised tasks. Direct staff in the execution of tasks. Coordinate with task and project managers, working with on-site subcontractors and field staff, supporting sampling, data collection, and field documentation. Apply standard field practices and techniques using basic field equipment to collect samples of soil, soil vapor, groundwater, surface water, sediment; prepare samples for shipping, and complete chain-of-custody or similar paperwork. This position will be on either a project management or technical support track. Qualified candidates (or candidates with the desire to take on these roles) would work closely with senior-level project managers and/or senior technical staff to learn AECOM's project management procedures and/or technical project expectations. AECOM has a project manager training and certification process and multiple avenues for technical knowledge supporting advancement. Qualifications Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or other related discipline + 4 years of relevant experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Valid U.S. Driver's License. Successful candidate will have to pass a motor vehicle records check. Successful candidate will have to pass a background check. Successful candidate will be enrolled in a medical surveillance program. Due to the nature of the work, US Citizenship is required. Preferred Qualifications Ability to demonstrate professional demeanor in written and verbal communications with clients, regulatory officials, and fellow employees. Ability to write and to convey complex thoughts and ideas in a clear, concise manner. Ability to learn through on-the-job experience. Master's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, or other related discipline. Ability to travel for fieldwork and/or meetings. This position may require occasional travel within the United States. Experience with developing conceptual site models and preparing remediation strategies. Proficiency in standard MS Office suite software applications. Experience with MS Project a plus. OSHA 40 Hour
HAZWOPER
Certification or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire. Database, GIS, CAD, Adobe Illustrator, visualization software skills are desirable. Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and safely drive a full-size pickup truck. Tolerance for work in outdoor environments in a range of weather conditions and be medically fit for wearing a respirator.
