This is a physically demanding, hands-on position that involves environmental cleanup work, hazardous waste handling, emergency response, field labor, and support operations throughout a variety of industrial and commercial job sites. Environmental Technicians play a critical role in environmental remediation, hazardous waste management, biological cleanup operations, transportation support, and emergency response services. Candidates must be comfortable performing labor-intensive work in challenging environments while maintaining strict safety and compliance standards. This is not a desk job. The ideal candidate is someone who is willing to work hard, stay productive, work flexible hours when needed, and operate safely in fast-paced field environments. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Perform environmental cleanup and hazardous waste handling operations Assist with emergency spill response and remediation projects Handle, package, label, and transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste materials Load and unload drums, containers, tools, equipment, and supplies Perform biological cleanup work involving blood, bodily fluids, feces, urine, and contaminated materials Assist with site decontamination and cleanup procedures Set up and maintain containment areas, safety zones, and equipment Operate hand tools, pumps, pressure washers, vacuums, and other field equipment Follow all OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety procedures Wear required PPE including respirators, Tyvek suits, gloves, eye protection, and other safety equipment Complete field paperwork, waste labels, manifests, and daily reports accurately Assist drivers and field supervisors with transportation and operational support Maintain clean and organized vehicles, trailers, equipment, and warehouse areas Communicate professionally with customers, supervisors, and team members Work outdoors and in physically demanding or unpleasant environments Physical Requirements This position requires strenuous physical labor on a daily basis.
Candidates must be able to:
Lift, carry, push, and pull heavy materials regularly Stand and work for extended periods of time Bend, kneel, squat, climb, and crawl when necessary Work in hot, cold, wet, dirty, dusty, or hazardous environments Wear respirators and protective equipment for extended periods Perform repetitive labor tasks safely and efficiently Work long hours and overtime when projects require it Qualifications & Requirements Valid driver license required Clean driving record preferred Ability to pass background check, drug screening, and medical evaluation if required Previous labor, environmental, construction, industrial, or hazardous waste experience preferred Ability to work overtime, weekends, nights, and emergency call-outs when needed Strong work ethic and reliability Ability to follow detailed safety procedures and instructions Comfortable working around hazardous materials and biological waste Ability to work independently and as part of a team Good communication and organizational skills Preferred Experience & Certifications The following experience or certifications are a plus, but not required: 40-HourOSHA HAZWOPER
Confined Space Training Respirator Training/Fit Testing Hazardous waste handling experience Biohazard or trauma scene cleanup experience Industrial cleaning or pressure washing experience Forklift certification CDL or hazardous materials endorsement Work Environment Environmental Technicians may work in: Industrial facilities Commercial buildings Construction sites Roadways and outdoor environments Emergency response scenes Warehouses and transportation yards Locations involving hazardous or biological contamination Employees may be exposed to dirt, dust, odors, chemicals, biological materials, and physically challenging conditions while performing duties.
