The Columbia, SC office of Schnabel Engineering is seeking an Engineering Technician to join our growing practice. We are looking for motivated candidates with attention to detail, a passion to continue to develop as a professional, and a desire to be part of a strong team.

• Job Responsibilities:

• + Field observation and testing during placement of construction materials including soil, concrete, asphalt, masonry and reinforcing steel + Collect data, maintain, and troubleshoot geotechnical instrumentation + Collect environmental water and soil samples from monitoring wells, borings, excavations, drains, and surface water bodies + Perform laboratory soils and concrete testing + Preparation of reports documenting observations and test results + Communication with contractors and engineers to discuss observations and test results •

Required Skills/Experience:

• + Prior experience on construction projects (minimum 2 yrs is preferred) + Technician certification (ACI, SCDOT or AASHTO) + 40 Hour

HAZWOPER

Certification or the ability to obtain in 6 months + MSHA 24 Training or the ability to obtain in 6 months + Excellent mathematic computational skills + High School degree + Valid US Driver's License + Possess good oral, written, communication, skills + Candidates must be able to lift 50 - 75 pounds on an occasional basis and be physically able to negotiate construction sites, climb ladders and work outside. + Basic Knowledge of Soil and Concrete Laboratory testing + Ability to work independently or as part of a multidisciplinary, multi-office team + Attention to detail and well-organized + Strong professional work ethic and desire to perform at a high level + Basic understanding of and ability to use of hand tools

• Other Requirements:

• + Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record, and credit check + Ability to pass a pre-employment screening The compensation range for this position is between $16/hr to $22/hr.
