Job Summary The Infection Preventionist plays a critical role in safeguarding patient health by implementing and monitoring infection control protocols within healthcare settings. This position involves collaborating with clinical staff to prevent, identify, and control infections, ensuring compliance with public health regulations and organizational policies. The Infection Preventionist will utilize their expertise in microbiology, epidemiology, and acute care to promote a safe environment for patients and healthcare workers alike. Duties Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control policies and procedures. Conduct regular surveillance of infection rates and report findings to healthcare leadership. Collaborate with clinical teams to ensure adherence to infection control practices. Provide education and training to staff on infection prevention strategies and best practices. Analyze medical records to identify trends in infectious diseases and recommend improvements. Participate in the investigation of infection outbreaks, utilizing epidemiological methods. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other relevant public health guidelines. Maintain accurate documentation of infection control activities and outcomes. Qualifications Certification in Infection Control (CIC) is highly desirable. Experience in acute care settings or critical care environments is advantageous. Strong knowledge of infectious disease care, microbiology, and epidemiology principles. Familiarity with OSHA standards and regulations related to infection prevention. Excellent observational skills and attention to detail for patient safety monitoring. Ability to communicate effectively with diverse healthcare teams and provide training. Proficient in analyzing data related to infection rates and outcomes.
