Job Description
The Skilled Nursing Facility is looking for a Full Time Registered Nurse to oversee the infection control and MDS programs. As infection preventionist nurse will plan, organize, develop, coordinate, and direct the infection prevention and control program. As MDS coordinator will collect all pertinent data regarding ADL functioning of a resident and schedule assessments and interviews with residents. 1. Ensure the facility is in compliance with current CDC, OSHA, and local regulations concerning infection prevention and control. 2. Develop, maintain, and periodically update infection prevention and control processes and techniques in accordance with current best practices. 3. Make rounds to the nursing unit for the purpose of case findings, review of environmental sanitation procedures, and supervision of standard and transmission- based precautions/practices. 4. Visits residents as necessary to ensure that established standard and transmission-based precautions and aseptic techniques as followed. 5. Reviews and analyses infectious disease laboratory results and consults with the Director of Nursing Services in developing the care plan for assuring that aseptic techniques are implemented. 6. Identifies what MDS each resident needs. 7. Making necessary changes on the MDS when there is a decline/improvement in a residents status. 8. Attends weekly care plan meeting. 9. Submitting all data via computer to CMS with Quarterly (Case Mix Index) reports which determine our payment. 10. When needed provides floor coverage; plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care, implements physician orders, administers medications and treatments, and delivers patient care as necessary.
