Summary As part of a comprehensive Quality Program, the Infection Preventionist oversees the Infection Prevention (IP) and Caregiver Health (CH) program. Completes annual risk assessment and plan, evaluates the quality of resident care and outcomes as they relate to Healthcare and Community Acquired Infections in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations. Oversees CH requirements, monitors compliance with infection control standards, and investigates exposures. Collects, analyzes and prepares infection prevention and caregiver health data. Presents data and makes recommendations for actions. Prepares and presents education for caregivers, residents and families. Serves as a resource to all departments and personnel. Works collaboratively and leads through the principles of High Reliability to support the mission and a culture of safety. Job Responsibilities/Essential Functions Completes annual risk assessment, develops and implements the IP and CH plan to ensure alignment with current evidence-based practice and applicable regulatory requirements. Develops a surveillance system for preventing, identifying, reporting (internal and external), outbreak investigation and controlling infections and communicable diseases for all residents, staff, volunteers, visitors, and other individuals providing services. Develops, reviews, drafts written IP and CH policies and procedures as applicable. Collects data and produces reports on IP and CH metrics; attends Quality Assurance Committee to present data and provide recommendations; collaborates with all departments to address issues. Oversees CH onboarding and annual requirements for vaccinations and communicable disease testing; respiratory protection and fit testing; monitors caregiver compliance with IP and CH standards. Consults with facility management technician and emergency preparedness consultant to address built environment deficiencies, aquatic oversight, mitigate hazards, control risk, and disaster plans. Creates and provides caregiver education across the organization including just in time education, in services, skills labs, and other mandatory training requirements. Completes and monitors IP and CH process improvement projects as applicable. Develops and maintains current knowledge of federal and state regulations as they pertain to the role and the organization. Participates in state level committees as applicable. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, Public Health, Lab Sciences, Microbiology or related health science field (Masters preferred) Current Washington State License as applicable CIC (Certification in Infection Control) 2 years Healthcare experience 2 years Pediatric experience preferred Current Healthcare Provider BLS/CPR Food Handler's Card Must pass a State and Federal Background Check, including fingerprints Valid State Driver's License Must maintain current vehicle insurance Proof of licensing required vaccinations Behavior Management Training within 60 days of hire Abuse Prevention Systems Sexual Abuse Awareness Training within 90 days of hire Proficient in MS 365 Work Environment This position is inclusive of all resident care programs of Pope's Place. The position requires flexibility as hours of work are subject to operational needs. The environment may include exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and other potential hazards. Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required and follow strict guidelines to protect self and residents from infectious disease. Travel Out of town travel is not required for this position.
Pay:
$41.61 - $61.90 per hour Expected hours: 20.0 per week
