Beverage and Dairy Location:
Hoffman Estates, IL Position objectives: Innovatively showcase Silesia Flavors across a wide array of beverage and dairy applications. Using the skills and knowledge obtained, improve the ability of Silesia to provide rapid and accurate service to both current and prospective customers. The Beverage and Dairy Application Technologist I will work on a full range of carbonated, still, and alcoholic beverages as well as ice cream, frozen desserts and fermented products using dairy and dairy analogs. They will also be responsible for creating and maintaining a sampling library, assisting with sample requests, and participating in sensory activities. Essential Functions Assist in project management to ensure timely and accurate completion of customer requests.
  • Create and engineer safe and delicious finished beverage and dairy products, including but not exclusively: alcoholic beverages, yogurts, carbonated beverages, juice drinks, animal and vegan milk drinks, and frozen desserts.
  • Develop beverage and dairy recipes according to Silesia standard.
  • Work with Marketing and Sales teams to create concepts for customer presentations.
  • Accurately and professionally communicate project outputs and maintain effective internal and external collaborations (Sales, Marketing, R D, CSG and Customers).
  • Must have the ability to learn to safely operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
  • Scale calibration and accurate measurement using digital balance, pH meter and carbonator.
  • Document all project related data, processes, equipment parameters, dosages and tasting notes in SAP and other records.
  • Source and manage inventory of raw materials and lab supplies (general and project specific), including re-ordering as needed.
  • Creative ability to taste, smell, and describe food and participate in all required sensory panels and training.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the laboratory.
  • Work in accordance with approved Silesia quality standards and Food Safety requirements such as Good Manufacturing Practices, allergen handling protocol, etc.
  • Act as back up to the Applications Manager

  • Confectionery & Bakery.
  • Attend customer visits and trade shows as required.
  • Some travel may be required; including international travel.
  • In addition to the preceding assignments, the incumbent is obligated to carry out individual tasks that, in essence, belong to his/her duties or where this is dictated by company needs.

Education and professional experience:
  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology or equivalent industry experience
  • 1-2 years of flavor industry experience preferred
  • Solid experience in communicating with a highly demanding sales force and customers
