In this role, you will perform hydrologic and hydraulic (H&H) modeling for complex infrastructure and transportation projects, using industry-leading tools such as HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, and InfoWorks ICM . You will work alongside engineers, planners, and other technical professionals to evaluate system performance, identify potential flood and drainage impacts, and develop practical engineering solutions. This is a hybrid opportunity with a large, well-established organization in the water resources industry, offering exposure to complex projects and strong long-term career growth. Key Responsibilities Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater, drainage, floodplain, and watershed studies . Develop, calibrate, and analyze models using HEC-RAS (1D/2D), HEC-HMS, SWMM, InfoWorks ICM , or similar modeling platforms. Evaluate rainfall-runoff, hydraulic capacity, flood risk, drainage performance, and system behavior under various design scenarios. Perform technical calculations and interpret modeling results to support engineering recommendations and design decisions. Prepare technical reports, calculations, figures, exhibits, and other documentation for design packages and regulatory submissions . Support stormwater and drainage design, including grading, drainage, paving, and related civil infrastructure improvements . Use AutoCAD Civil 3D and GIS tools to support modeling, analysis, and civil design activities. Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams to incorporate modeling results into practical and constructible designs. Support permitting and coordination with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies . Respond to technical comments and information requests from clients, agencies, and other project stakeholders. Maintain accurate model files, calculations, supporting data, and documentation in accordance with established QA/QC procedures . Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, or a related field. 4+ years of professional experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, stormwater management, drainage, floodplain analysis, or water resources engineering. Hands-on experience with one or more H&H modeling programs, including: HEC-RAS (1D/2D)
HEC-HMS SWMM
InfoWorks ICM Comparable hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software Strong understanding of hydrology, hydraulics, rainfall-runoff analysis, floodplain analysis, and stormwater management . Experience applying modeling results to drainage, stormwater, or water resources design. Working knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal stormwater and floodplain regulations . Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and civil/site design principles. Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, planners, clients, and agency stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification . Advanced experience with InfoWorks ICM . Experience with ArcGIS or similar GIS platforms for watershed, drainage, or floodplain analysis. Experience supporting transportation, municipal infrastructure, or large-scale water resources projects . Experience preparing or supporting regulatory and permitting submissions. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $55.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
