Microbiology Lab Technician Chemco Corporation Miami Lakes, FL Job Details Full-time From $27 an hour 16 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Qualifications Bachelor's degree Microbiological analysis Full Job Description Microbiologist - Cosmetics & OTC Manufacturing Full-Time | Minimum 3 Years of Experience | Cosmetics / OTC Drug Manufacturing Job Summary We are an established cosmetics and OTC drug manufacturer operating under FDA/GMP requirements and are seeking a dynamic Microbiologist lab technician to join our Quality Control team. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of hands-on microbiology laboratory experience, preferably within the cosmetic, pharmaceutical, OTC drug, or personal care manufacturing industry. This position is responsible for microbiological testing and release support for raw materials, bulk products, finished products, purified/process water, and the manufacturing environment. The Microbiologist will also participate in investigations, environmental monitoring, method verification, documentation, and GMP compliance activities. Key Responsibilities Perform microbiological testing of raw materials, bulk products, and finished cosmetic and OTC products. Perform Microbial Limits Testing and other applicable microbiological testing according to USP and approved internal methods. Perform or support testing in accordance with applicable methods, including USP , , , and , as appropriate. Perform Aerobic Plate Count, Yeast and Mold testing, and specified microorganism testing. erform microbiological testing and monitoring of the facility's water system. Prepare media, reagents, dilutions, standards, and microbiological cultures. Perform growth promotion and suitability testing as required. Maintain and identify laboratory microorganisms and reference cultures as applicable. Review microbiological test results and determine compliance with established specifications. Immediately report and investigate OOS, atypical, or adverse microbiological results. Participate in OOS investigations, deviations, CAPA, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions. Maintain complete and accurate laboratory records in accordance with GMP and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). Assist with microbiological method development, verification, validation, and transfer as required. Maintain laboratory equipment, calibration records, logs, and preventive maintenance documentation. Monitor laboratory inventory, microbiological media, supplies, and testing materials. Assist Quality and Regulatory departments during FDA, customer, GMP, and third-party audits. Review microbiological trends and identify potential contamination or process-control issues. Support cleaning and sanitation programs from a microbiological perspective. Follow all laboratory safety, GMP, SOP, and company requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, Biotechnology, or related scientific discipline required. Minimum 3 years of professional microbiology laboratory experience. Experience in cosmetic, pharmaceutical, OTC drug, personal care, or FDA-regulated manufacturing strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of GMP laboratory practices and FDA-regulated manufacturing environments. Hands-on experience with microbial enumeration, yeast and mold testing, specified microorganism testing, environmental monitoring, and water testing. Working knowledge of applicable USP microbiological methods. Experience with OOS investigations, CAPA, deviations, and root-cause analysis. Ability to maintain accurate, detailed, and audit-ready laboratory documentation. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with Quality, Production, R D, and Regulatory personnel. Preferred Experience OTC topical drug products Cosmetics and personal care products Preservative Effectiveness / Antimicrobial Effectiveness Testing USP , , , and Purified/process water systems.
