The Position WISEcode Labs currently is seeking an experienced Senior Microbiologist to join us on our important mission to deliver the most accurate and comprehensive data by leveraging cutting-edge test methods to perform a variety of microbiological analyses in the daily operation and maintenance of a state-of-the-art food and supplement testing laboratory. These functions may include sample preparation, method development, optimization, and validation for pathogen detection, indicator organism testing, and environmental monitoring. As a senior member of the microbiology team, your key job functions will include developing SOPs, testing samples using established SOPs, mentoring junior analysts, and supporting the development of new methods for testing food, beverage, and supplement samples for organisms such as Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli, Enterobacteriaceae, yeast and mold, and total plate counts. Responsibilities You will be responsible for independently performing sample preparation, testing, and recording laboratory data according to the company's policies and procedures, while also providing technical guidance to junior microbiologists. You will be expected to generate accurate test results in a timeframe consistent with client expectations. Your responsibilities will include, but not be limited to: Helping the lab leadership drive scientific and operational excellence in microbiological analysis through relentless focus on accuracy of results, data integrity, and efficiency. Understanding and practicing Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Good Microbiological Laboratory Practices (GMLP), including accurate and traceable record keeping. Independently performing efficiently at each step along the flow of samples, e.g., sample reception, retention & disposal, sample preparation including homogenization and dilution, microbial analysis, and data review and reporting. Performing pathogen testing (e.g., Salmonella, Listeria, E. coli O157:

H7), indicator organism testing (e.g., Enterobacteriaceae, coliforms, aerobic plate count), and yeast/mold enumeration using both traditional culture-based methods and rapid/molecular methods such as PCR. Troubleshooting and maintaining equipment such as autoclaves, biological safety cabinets, incubators, PCR instruments, automated identification systems. Conducting environmental monitoring and swabbing programs to support client facility sanitation and quality programs. Understanding customer test requirements and reviewing results under the guidance of the lab manager/director or other scientific and quality control leadership in the lab. Executing testing methods exactly as defined by the SOPs in place, and becoming familiar with media, reagents, controls, and other general lab procedures. Mentoring and training junior microbiologists and lab technicians on proper aseptic technique, method execution, and documentation practices. Proactively making your supervisor / lab leadership aware of any problems with equipment, test supplies, or methods. Promptly working with your supervisor to address any nonconformance with the company's safety and compliance policies. Assisting with method development and SOP creation in accordance with

ISO 17025

guidelines. Assisting the Quality Supervisor/Manager with external and internal auditing preparation and execution. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements / Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related field. Graduate degree preferred. Minimum of four years of hands-on experience in a microbiology laboratory, with previous food or supplement testing lab experience strongly preferred. Demonstrated experience with pathogen detection, indicator organism testing, and rapid/molecular methods such as PCR. Scientific publication or scientific writing experience preferred. Experience in an

ISO 17025

certified (or similar) laboratory is preferred. Prior experience mentoring or supervising junior lab staff preferred. Strong written communication skills and report writing experience. Strong organization and time management skills. Compensation and Benefits A compelling compensation and benefits package will be outlined for the selected candidates.

Pay:

$65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
