Job Description
Microbiologist I/II (Contract)
The ideal candidate will have strong laboratory fundamentals, excellent aseptic technique, and prior experience working in a cGMP-regulated environment. Key Responsibilities Perform microbiological testing of pharmaceutical products, raw materials, and environmental samples. Conduct LAL (Limulus Amebocyte Lysate) endotoxin testing and utilize Lonza WinKQCL® software for endotoxin detection, analysis, review, and documentation. Execute USP compendial methods including USP <61>, <62>, <60>, <51>, <87>, and <922>. Support environmental monitoring programs and routine microbiological testing activities. Prepare microbiological media, reagents, standards, controls, and testing materials. Maintain accurate documentation in laboratory notebooks, LIMS, and related systems while ensuring data integrity. Follow aseptic techniques, cGMP requirements, SOPs, and laboratory quality standards. Assist with equipment maintenance, calibration activities, incubator monitoring, and sterilization procedures. Review technical procedures, SOPs, and compendial methods to support testing and data interpretation. Support sample receipt, data entry, and general laboratory operations while maintaining an inspection-ready environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Microbiology, Biology, or a related scientific discipline 1-2 years of pharmaceutical microbiology laboratory experience Hands-on experience with Lonza WinKQCL® software for endotoxin detection, analysis, and documentation Experience performing LAL endotoxin testing Familiarity with USP microbiological testing methods Knowledge of cGMP regulations and regulated laboratory environments Strong attention to detail and documentation skills Ability to work independently and manage multiple testing priorities Preferred Qualifications Experience supporting environmental monitoring programs Knowledge of EP, ASTM, AOAC, FDA, and EPA testing methodologies Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) Previous experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or contract testing laboratories
