Job Description

The Goshen Center for Cancer Care is a nationally recognized cancer center connected to Goshen Hospital, a 5-time Magnet Designated Facility for nursing excellence. With dozens of clinical studies underway, our team of oncologists and research experts work to advance science and patient care, both within our facility and around the world. Working with a team of Dosimetrists and Radiation Therapists, the Medical Physicist oversees treatment on the Varian TrueBeam and Ethos Therapy machines. The responsibility for the operation of Radiation Physics shall be that of the medical physicist. The physicist is expected to function with initiative and independent judgment, and will assist with development and application of departmental policies, quality improvement initiatives, budgets, and long range plans applicable to Radiation Therapy.
Position Qualifications Minimum Education:
Master of Science or Doctoral Degree in Medical Physics, or related discipline. Board eligible.
Preferred Education:
Certified by the American Board of Radiology in Radiation Therapy, Physics or Radiological Physics or must meet Qualified Expert criteria defined by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and/or State radiation agency.
Preferred Experience:
Three years clinical experience in a radiation therapy department under the preceptorship of a physicist certified by the American Board of Radiology in Therapy Physics or Radiological Physics. Experience shall include calibration of linear accelerators and other radiation sources, clinical dosimetry of external beams and implant sources, patient set-up, and computer treatment planning. Experience preferred in nuclear medicine and radiology equipment calibration, quality, radiation surveys, shielding design and image analysis. High Dose Rate Brachytherapy and Intensity Modulated. Radiation Therapy Knowledge/Skills needed.
