Full Job Description Job Summary:
This position is primarily responsible for assisting manufacturing engineers in their daily tasks as part of the Ortho business unit - New Product Development team. Main responsibilities include facilitating and supporting the manufacturing and assembly of verification and validation units, assisting in the development of manufacturing fixtures and equipment, and supporting manufacturing process development.
Responsibilities:
Support day‑to‑day manufacturing operations by assisting Manufacturing Engineers with production and process activities Read and follow work instructions, routings, and basic engineering drawings Support the creation and execution of validation and non-production work orders or pilot builds Inspect own work and in‑process parts using basic measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges) to verify conformance to specifications Identify, communicate, and assist in resolving manufacturing or quality issues Support continuous improvement activities including 5S, process improvements, and waste reduction Maintain accurate production and inspection records as required Follow all safety, quality, and operational procedures and use required PPE Maintain clean and organized work area Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications:
AS in Engineering Science or equivalent experience. Basic knowledge of components, assemblies and product form, fit and function Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to perform hands‑on shop work Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and process documentation Basic Knowledge in reading blueprints Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to chemicals, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment and facility grounds can be loud.
