Job Description
at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, United States Job Description Design, implement, and maintain internal web-based basemap and mapping services utilizing OpenStreetMap Data, TileServer GL, PostGIS, MapLibre GL, RESTful API, Python, WebGIS, React-Map-GL, ArcGIS, and spatial modeling; Provide reusable geospatial services and APIs to support other enterprise Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and mapping applications; Design, develop, and enhance offline geocoding services using open-source geocoding frameworks; Develop internal routing, travel-time estimation, and route optimization applications to support spatial accessibility and transportation analysis; Develop WebGIS applications and spatial analysis tools using DuckDB and PostGIS to enable efficient querying, processing, and visualization of large-scale geospatial datasets; and Produce customized thematic maps and spatial visualizations using ArcGIS Pro to support research, operational analysis, and decision-making.
Requirements:
Master's Degree or foreign degree equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems or Engineering and one years experience in IT field or Research Assistance; and experience with OpenStreetMap, ArcGIS, RESTful API, Python, WebGIS and spatial modeling. Pre-employment background check and verification of eligibility to work in US required.
