Position Information Requisition Number Stu816P Position Type Student Worker Department Department of Student Workers Job Title Graduate Assistant (GA) / Center for Public Scholarship Classification Student Worker Pay Rate $6000 per year (FT) Graduate assistants (FT) also earn tuition waiver credits of 18 credits per year. Position Summary Information Hours per week Full-time 20 hrs Days Worked Varied days and hours during regular university business hours Hours/Shift worked Varied Posting Detail Information Job Summary/Basic Function The Graduate Assistant for the Center for Public Scholarship ( CPS ) will participate in and help to coordinate, promote, and develop programs and projects under the auspices of CPS . The GA will provide support to community partners, undertake research projects, and plan and publicize programs. Required Qualifications Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in a Millersville University graduate program; non-degree students and those only seeking post-baccalaureate certification are not eligible. Must be available for on-campus work at specific times (coordinate schedule with the Director to assure appropriate support for the Center). Full-time Graduate Assistants must be enrolled in and maintain a minimum of 6 credits in Fall semester and Spring semester. Applicants should have the following skills:
- interest in and commitment to learning the principles and processes of community-based research
- knowledge and understanding of basic social science research design
- advanced beginner proficiency in statistical data analysis, especially advanced beginner skills in the software of Excel and SPSS
- training and experience in conducting literature reviews
- strong writing and oral presentation skills
- demonstrated success in team projects and ability to work well with others
- basic knowledge of website and social media management Preferred Qualifications Job Duties
- participate in, and help promote, develop, and coordinate programs and projects under the auspices of the CPS
- provide support to community partners
- undertake research projects on issues identified by community partners
- plan and publicize CPS and community education programs
- supervise undergraduate student research assistants
- assist in the planning and carrying out of events associated with the CPS
