Botanist | Ecological Restoration Specialist This full-time Botanist role supports a variety of environmental projects through vegetation surveys, habitat assessments, wetland and stream delineations, and ecological data analysis. The position combines fieldwork and office-based reporting, with frequent travel and strong opportunities for long-term professional growth. Key Responsibilities Conduct vegetation surveys, habitat assessments, wetland delineations, and stream assessments, with a strong focus on Great Plains species and grasses. Support vegetation management, habitat planning, and ecological restoration efforts. Review endangered plant and sensitive species records. Collect GPS and other field data to support mapping and spatial analysis. Prepare technical reports, regulatory documents, permit applications, maps, and data tables. Lead or support field teams while ensuring safe, efficient operations. Use GIS tools, including ArcGIS Online, for mapping and project analysis. Assist with work plans, schedules, budgets, and project coordination. Perform environmental field sampling using equipment such as GPS units, tablets, soil augers, and quadrats. Conduct restoration site evaluations, soil surveys, and avian/wildlife surveys as needed. Maintain quality control of project deliverables and communicate progress to project managers. Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in natural resources, environmental science, botany, biology, ecology, wildlife biology, or a related field. 5-10 years of experience with habitat assessments, wetland delineations, restoration site evaluations, soil surveys, vegetation surveys, and wildlife/avian monitoring. Experience with field sampling, environmental data analysis, technical reporting, restoration planning, and permit applications. Strong technical writing skills for reports, plans, and regulatory documentation. Proficiency with ecological data collection and analysis related to vegetation, wetlands, soils, and endangered plants. Familiarity with NEPA-related environmental review documents and processes.
