Grow your career by joining the City of Roseville Environment al Utilities Department in the role of Water Conservation Worker. Join our Water Conservation team and help protect one of our community's most vital resources. In this role, you will perform a variety of duties to support water-use efficiency efforts - conduct surveys and water leak investigations, patrol for water waste, investigating high water-use incidents, and engage in extensive public contact to promote smart water practices. The current vacancy is a 1500-hour temporary position; however, the employment list that will be established from this recruitment may be utilized to fill future regular, temporary and limited term vacancies in the City for the duration of the list. Examples of Duties Minimum Qualifications Water Conservation Worker I Experience and Training:
Experience:
Six months experience in operation and maintenance of a water distribution system, irrigation system management, or water conservation program. Experience in public relations is desirable.
AND Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher-level degree.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid California driver's license by date of appointment.
Water Conservation Worker II Experience and Training:
Experience:
Two years of increasingly responsible experience in operation and maintenance of a water distribution system, irrigation system management, and/or water conservation program similar to that of a Water Conservation Worker I in the City of Roseville.
AND Training:
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade, GED, or higher level degree.
License or Certificate:
Possession of a valid California driver's license by date of appointment. A DOHS Water Distribution D-2 Certificate and a Certified Landscape Irrigation Auditor (CLIA) Certificate issued by the Irrigation Association must be completed within the first year of employment. SELECTION PROCESS
All candidates meeting the minimum qualifications will have their application scored in a Formula Rate Examination. The applicant's experience and education will be evaluated using a pre-determined formula. Scores from this evaluation will determine applicant ranking and placement on the Employment List. Supplemental questions will be utilized by the department hiring authority to make interview and selection determinations. Final appointment is contingent upon a check of past employment references, passing a City-paid fingerprint check, and depending on the position applied for, a pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol screening test, credit check, license and/or education verification, psychological examination, and/or an extensive Police Department background check process. Some positions require the clearance of a comprehensive Police Department (PD) background check within 12 months of appointment. The City may appoint candidates to positions prior to clearing the extensive Police Department background check, and in those circumstances the candidate will be advised in advance that security access in the information technology systems will be limited to non-PD related systems until PD clearance is received, and if the candidate ultimately does not clear the PD background it will result in release from City service without appeal rights, in accordance with Personnel Rules 3.04.050.
