Job Description

FALCON is looking for reliable and dynamic individuals to join our landfill's wildlife management team in New Jersey, USA. Who is FALCON? Falcon North America, Inc. (FALCON) is a growing, small to medium sized wildlife management and conservation company. We offer unique services to a wide variety of sectors including airports, landfills and many public and private organizations. FALCON is a world leader in its field of expertise, integrating ecological tools (e.g., falconry, canine teams, wildlife emergency response) and technological tools (e.g., drones, bird detection radar and software). Schedule You will work at different landfills, starting as soon as possible. We are in operation 7 days a week and year-round. Candidates will be required to work shifts, holidays and weekends and must be willing to work on call. Shift lengths and the number of hours worked vary seasonally. Your Responsibilities As a Wildlife Control Officer, you will be using various tools and methods to mitigate the wildlife nuisance, especially gulls. Your daily duties will contribute to keeping the site safe for personnel. As a member of a team, your tasks will include but may not be limited to the following: Learning and developing skills relative to wildlife abatement and dispersal methods, including but not limited to the discharge of pyrotechnics and the deployment of falconry birds. Care and handling of birds (hawks and falcons) used in falconry (food preparation, aviary cleaning, hunting and nuisance bird abatement using falconry). Identifying wildlife and collecting data on species and abatement interventions. Maintaining company vehicles and other equipment in safe working order. Completing forms and daily activity reports, on computer and on tablet. Your Profile You have a degree in a subject related to wildlife and At least 2-3 years of experience in the field of wildlife or relevant work experience. You are able to work alone as well as part of a team. You are autonomous, trustworthy and able to make decisions; you show good judgment in high-stress situations. You are in good physical condition and enjoy working long hours outdoors in all weather conditions and under difficult conditions (heat, dust, bad weather). You have a clean driving record. You have a valid state driver's licence as well as a reliable vehicle to get to work. You communicate efficiently in English (spoken and written). You are familiar with computers and tablets. You have good time management and communication skills. Assets You have knowledge of mechanics; must be able to change and repair tires. You have previous experience working with animals; successful candidates will be required to work and care for falconry birds (falcons and hawks). You have prior falconry experience or have the desire and willingness to obtain your falconry permit. You have prior hunting and trapping experience. You have a valid NJ Hunting & Trapping Permits (All-Around Sportsman Licence an asset).
