Category Schools - Special Education Teacher Job Type Contract Ignite your passion for teaching as a Special Education Science Teacher, supporting students in a dynamic school environment near Des Plaines, IL. This contract role for the 2026/2027 school year presents an exciting opportunity to help students succeed academically and grow personally — all while sharpening your expertise in special education and science instruction.
Key Qualifications:
Valid Special Education Teacher certification Experience teaching science at the middle or high school level Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation Commitment to fostering an inclusive, supportive classroom environment Excellent communication and collaboration skills with students, staff, and families
Role Responsibilities:
Design and deliver engaging science lessons that meet the unique needs of diverse learners Differentiate instruction and materials to ensure accessibility for all students Develop, monitor, and update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) Work closely with other educators, specialists, and service providers to coordinate support services Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt strategies as necessary Foster a positive, encouraging classroom atmosphere that empowers student confidence Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and parent-teacher conferences
