Seasonal You-Pick Attendant

Seasonal You-Pick Attendant Avila Valley Barn, a beloved local farm stand and agritourism destination, is seeking enthusiastic and customer-focused Seasonal You-Pick Attendants to join our team for the upcoming harvest season. If you love the outdoors, enjoy working with people, and have a passion for fresh produce and flowers, this is the perfect opportunity for you! This role is also ideal for folks looking for social interaction and a fulfilling way to spend their time outdoors. This is a seasonal, part-time position with varying hours depending on harvest schedules, weather, and customer demand. Availability on weekends and holidays is required.

Responsibilities:

Customer Education & Guidance:

Warmly greet and welcome all you-pick customers to the fields and orchards. Provide clear and concise instructions on proper picking techniques for various crops, including berries, flowers, and apples, ensuring optimal ripeness and quality. Educate customers on the different varieties available for picking, their unique characteristics, and ideal uses. Answer customer questions about our farm, crops, history, events, and general agricultural practices.

Safety & Field Monitoring:

Actively monitor customer activity in the picking areas to ensure adherence to safety guidelines and farm rules. Identify and address potential safety hazards promptly. Ensure all picking areas remain clean and free of debris, regularly picking up trash and discarded produce.

Farm Ambassador & Information Provider:

Share interesting historical facts and information about Avila Valley Barn, its origins, and its connection to the local community. Promote other offerings and attractions at Avila Valley Barn, encouraging customers to explore all we have to offer. Maintain a positive and approachable demeanor, representing Avila Valley Barn with professionalism and genuine hospitality.

Sales & Transactions:

Accurately process customer purchases using both cash and card payment systems. Weigh and price pick produce and flowers accurately. Provide excellent customer service during transactions, ensuring a smooth and pleasant checkout experience.

General Duties:

Assist with field preparation and closing procedures as needed. Communicate effectively with farm management regarding crop status, customer feedback, and any operational issues. Perform other duties as assigned to support the you-pick operation.

Qualifications:

Must be at least 18 years of age. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a friendly and outgoing personality. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in an outdoor environment. Comfortable working in varying weather conditions (sun, heat, etc.). Prior experience in customer service
