Job Description

Position:
Security Officer Schedule:
12 hour shifts
  • 7 pm
  • 7 am
  • 4 days on/4 days off
  • Weekends and holidays required.
We are seeking a discreet and experienced Security Officer. This is a hands-on, team-based role that requires flexibility, professionalism, and a strong understanding of security protocols. Weekend and holiday availability is required. The Security Officer plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for our clients, employees, and visitors. The Security Officer will possess a strong working knowledge of access control systems, intrusion alarm systems, surveillance systems, and fire alarms. During the course of their shift, the Security Officer will patrol the grounds on foot and by UTV, assuring that all doors are closed and locked as required and completing basic property maintenance tasks. The Security Officer is required to track and monitor all visitors to the property. The Security Officer directs residents, staff and guests during emergency situations. Education and Qualifications Currently certified or be able to obtain OPOTA Private Security Firearms training certification. Successful background check, cultural assessment, and drug screening. Hold current certification or be able to obtain certification for CPR, AED, First Aid and Blood Born Pathogens. At minimum, 3-5 years of Military, Police, or Security experience is required. Responsibilities Monitor and patrol assigned areas to prevent and detect signs of intrusion or suspicious activity. Operate surveillance equipment, including CCTV systems, to maintain constant observation of the premises. Respond promptly to alarms and incidents, taking appropriate action as necessary. Enforce rules and regulations to ensure the safety of all individuals on site. Conduct regular inspections of property (buildings, equipment, vehicles, access points) and report any issues or maintenance needs. Prepare detailed reports on daily activities, incidents, and observations for management review. Collaborate with law enforcement when necessary to address security concerns or incidents. Maintaining organization's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirements. Ensuring operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements. Responding to emergency situations, diffusing conflict, and rendering care if needed. Protecting and safeguarding the safety and comfort of the principals. Maintaining confidentiality of the activities of principals and management.. Occasional driving detail. Care for large and small livestock, pets and working K9. Other Duties

Duties, responsibilities and activities may change at any time with or without notice. Skills Proficient in surveillance techniques and operation of CCTV systems. Knowledge of conflict management strategies to effectively handle disputes. Certification in AED, CPR and First Aid is preferred; training may be provided if not certified. Background in law enforcement or military service is advantageous but not required. Familiarity with loss prevention methods and best practices in security operations. Strong observational skills with attention to detail for identifying potential security risks. Excellent communication skills for interacting with diverse groups of people effectively. Possession of excellent verbal and nonverbal communication. Ability to work under pressure and stress. Must have critical thinking and sound decision making skills. Ability to sit or stand in a fixed post for up to 12 hours. Ability to work 12 hour shifts covering long distances on foot patrol. Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Ohio drivers license. Proficient with Apple/Mac and Microsoft programs. Must maintain physical and emotional control in crises. Must be able to lift 50-75 pounds frequently.
