This position will directly supervise the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, perform cost accounting, manage the monthly closing of G/L accounts, and oversee the preparation of reports and other reconciliation schedules in support of the financial statements. The Senior Accounting Manager will report to and work closely with the Controller and others in the organization in analysis and reconciliation of accounts and in the development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls. The ideal candidate possesses leadership capabilities, solid operational and technical accounting skills, strong managerial experience, and works proactively to drive results. This person is a self-starter, flexible, has a high level of integrity, and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
Manage the monthly financial close process, including ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, reviewing journal entries, G/L account balance reconciliations, and report preparation. Participate in the ongoing development and establishment of accounting policies and procedures and operational strategies, including the review and implementation of process and system changes. Continually focus on improving system efficiencies and business practices. Participate in strategic financial projects including upgrades and implementation of ERP software. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance. Interacts at all Company levels and with budget owners or other stakeholders to produce a timely, efficient, and accurate month-end close. Be responsible for the hierarchy and scalability of the chart of accounts, and accuracy in the general ledger and financial statements. Analyze the effect of accounting practices and study accounting regulations and guidance to ensure correct application of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Make recommendations for changes as needed, and ensure that company policies and procedures are followed, and establish proper techniques to discover and prevent fraud. Prepare detailed journal entries and account analyses. Assist with compilation of information for preparation of tax returns. Prepare summary feedback on financial statement variances to budget. Perform manufacturing cost accounting processes and procedures. Actively review and advise on financial and accounting processes. Supervise clerical associates to ensure they remain motivated and are provided with proper support to meet their job duties and responsibilities. Various other related duties and responsibilities (fixed assets, banking, etc.)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required. 8 to 10 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years of solid management and supervisory experience of direct reports in effective teams. Strong experience using accounting software and data analytics.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in accounting, finance, or related field a plus. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or CPA candidate.
