Job Description
Senior Litigation ParalegalPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to support our civil litigation practice. The ideal candidate will manage complex case files, coordinate discovery and motion practice, and work closely with attorneys to develop case strategy and trial preparation. This role requires advanced paralegal skills, strong organizational ability, and practical knowledge of civil litigation procedures.
This role reports directly to the managing partner.
Key ResponsibilitiesManage and maintain litigation case files from intake through trial and post-trial, ensuring documents and deadlines are organized and current.
Draft, revise, and file pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, and other court documents in accordance with court rules and firm standards.
Coordinate and supervise discovery processes, including drafting discovery plans, responding to interrogatories, organizing document productions, and managing e-discovery vendors and platforms.
Prepare and organize exhibits, witness lists, trial binders, and demonstrative exhibits; assist attorneys during depositions, hearings, and trials.
Conduct legal research and summarize decisions, statutes, and regulations relevant to case strategy and litigation support.
Manage calendaring of deadlines, court appearances, and client meetings; ensure compliance with local, state, and federal court rules and filing procedures.
Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and expert witnesses to coordinate case activities and gather necessary information.
Train, mentor, and supervise junior paralegals and legal assistants; delegate tasks and review work for accuracy and completeness.
Assist with settlement administration, including preparation of settlement agreements, releases, and closing documentation.
Maintain confidentiality of privileged information and adhere to ethical and professional standards of the firm.
QualificationsParalegal certificate from an ABA-approved program or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum 8-10+ years of litigation paralegal experience, with significant experience in civil litigation matters.
Strong writing skills is a mustProven experience preparing pleadings, motions, discovery, and trial materials; familiarity with local, state, and federal court procedures.
Proficiency with e-discovery tools, case management software, and legal research databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis) and document management systems.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively with attorneys, clients, and support staff; excellent organizational and project management skills.
Experience with deposition and trial preparation, including exhibit preparation and witness coordination.
Professional demeanor, discretion, and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality.
