Work schedule is based on a 40-hour week, which may include rotating shifts and weekends. Under the general supervision of a higher-classified employee, serves as a professional lead worker, coordinating service activities of a designated unit within the department to which assigned. As such, assigns cases, monitors activities and perform similar coordinating functions of a non-supervisory nature. Provides direct services to department customers. Position will have a major focus on organizing and monitoring the daily work of the team, overseeing the quality and timely completion of clinical documentation, leading the team in new clinical initiatives and leading and training the team in clinical and crisis intervention.EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
Essential Duties:
Serves as a professional lead worker within the assigned unit of the department to which assigned. Coordinates, monitors and assigns work to other employees within the unit. Provides direct services to department customers (children, adolescents and adults as appropriate to assigned unit/program) utilizing treatment or other methods appropriate to the service.Includes:
Providing services to children and/or adults utilizing a variety of modalities, including crisis intervention, client service management and long-term planning, as well as individual, group and family interventions. Participates as a team member in the unit/department reviews in order to provide and receive feedback on types of services provided. Represents the agency to the community, other County departments, outside agencies, families of customers, and other interested parties in such a way that an understanding of customers' needs are fostered. Participates in service planning, research, analysis, grant preparation and evaluation of designated unit/program. Assists in development of alternative proposals and identifies objectives related to goal and policy formulation. Prepares and participates in the collection of data and information on services. Prepares various written and statistical information in proper format for presentation. Monitors grant proposals and programs. Provides assistance in the in-service training of other employees. Serves as a resource to other department employees by providing consultation and training. Participates in the planning and presentation of workshops, meetings and conferences. Serves on committees. Represents the agency to the community in a way that fosters the mission and goals of the agency. Supervises the work of students and/or volunteers by assigning cases, reviewing work and interpreting agency policy and procedures. Recommends new programs through assessment of agency and community needs.Important Duties:
Enters data into a personal or mainframe computer system. Maintains data bases. Prepares spreadsheets and reports. Prepares information, correspondence and other written materials using word processing software. Uses standard office equipment in the course of the work. May drive a County or personal vehicle in the performance of the work. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge of:
Principles and practices, applicable laws and regulations covering service delivery in the discipline to which assigned. Administrative principles and practices, including goal setting, work teams approach and general management methods. Department policies, procedures, rules and regulations. Techniques of dealing effectively with individuals of varying socio-economic backgrounds. Community resources available to customer families and individuals. General knowledge of common office computer software programs as well as applications which are specific to the assigned unit/department. DSM-IV criteria to accurately evaluate, assess and diagnose persons with psychiatric disorders, substance use disorders and developmental disabilities. Assessing for risk of suicide/homicide and to differentiate intensity of service needed. Experience with differential diagnosis of serious mental illness, substace use disorders and medical disorders.Skill in:
Interpreting, applying and explaining complex laws, policies and regulations. Analyzing complex personal and procedural problems, evaluating alternatives, and making sound recommendations. Using sound independent judgment within established policy and procedural guidelines. Maintaining accurate files and records. Preparing clear, concise and effective written materials. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with those contacted within the course of work.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Duties require sufficient mobility to work in a normal office setting and use standard office equipment including a computer, vision to read printed materials and a VDT screen and hearing and speech sufficient to communicate in person or over the telephone. These requirements may be accommodated for otherwise qualified individuals requiring and requesting such accommodations.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum requirements are that applicants have a valid Michigan Driver's License and meet any requirements by funders for transportation of consumers. Master's degree in social work or psychology, three years of clinical experience plus one of the following: Licensed Master's in Social Work (LMSW) Limited Licensed Master's in Clinical or Behavioral Psychology (LLP) Other qualified health professional licensure as required to provide services and able to receive Medicaid and/or Medicare reimbursement and other third party reimbursement for mental health and/developmental disability services.NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
