SHELTER MANAGER
The John Graham Shelter in Vergennes provides emergency shelter to unhoused individuals and families with children. The Shelter Manager provides John Graham Shelter administration and supervision of Shelter support staff. The Shelter Manager also works closely with the Program Director and Director of Quality Assurance to manage the Shelter Waitlist and HMIS data.
JOB DUTIES
Provide monthly group supervision for Shelter staff (Shelter Coordinators, Night Managers, and Client Services Coordinator) Provide timesheet and expense report approval for Shelter staff Support Client Services Coordinator inventory and supply order processing for Shelter and Green Street SROs Work with Director of Quality Assurance to complete HMIS data entry on a weekly basis Manage Shelter Waitlist on a weekly basis in tandem with Program Director Manage Shelter sign-in/out sheet, reporting monthly to the Director of Quality Assurance In-kind donation processing, reporting to Director of Quality Assurance and Finance Manager Manage inventory, food orders, and distribution for the JGHS Food Shelf Manage annual holiday client gift planning, in collaboration with community partners Schedule and lead monthly Shelter House Meeting Schedule and lead quarterly Green Street SRO Meeting Email Shelter maintenance and repair requests to Property Manager (cc Finance Manager) Oversee Shelter Coordinator and Night Manager cleaning duties Oversee and document (with one other staff) monthly Shelter guest room inspections Represent JGHS at Addison County Outreach Team meetings Work with Program Director to assign outreach activities as capacity allows Attend one-on-one supervision with the Program Director on a bi-weekly basis Attend weekly staff meetings Model positive, constructive behavior for staff and clients Remain abreast of local and statewide systems and in support of direct service staff Work on-call on a rotating basis Provide support and Shelter operations training to new JGHS interns and staff Participate in housing coalition and other collaborative, community-based meetings, as assigned Attend training, as assigned by the Program Director
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in social services Three year's supervisory experience preferred Ability to communicate effectively with diverse clients, partners, and community members Knowledge of service coordination, peer support, and crisis intervention Familiarity with person-centered, trauma informed therapies The ability to exercise compassion and professional boundaries in a congregate setting Working knowledge of local resources and service providers Good written and verbal communication skills Technical proficiency with electronic documentation Ability to work both independently and as a team-member with a positive attitude
WORKING CONDITIONS
The Shelter Manager works in-person at the John Graham Shelter in Vergennes for a total of 40 hours per week (M-F 8:30 am
  • 4:30 pm) and works on call on a rotating basis Some local travel is required on occasion; occasional evening, weekend, and holiday hours may be assigned
