Shelter Specialist (Delta Landing) Heluna Health - 3.7 Pittsburg, CA Job Details $21 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications High school diploma or GED Full Job Description Delta Landing is a 172-room emergency shelter program within Contra Costa Health Services Health, Housing and Homeless Services Division, in partnership with Heluna Health. Our mission is to provide safe, interim housing with comprehensive services that support adults experiencing homelessness in securing permanent housing and ending their homelessness. Salary:
$21.00 - $24.15 HourlyESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide supervision and support to adult residents in an emergency shelter setting, ensuring access to safe housing, meals, and essential services. Support continuous 24-hour facility operations by maintaining flexibility in scheduling and shift coverage as needed. Conduct intake and screening of applicants to assess housing needs, service eligibility, and benefit linkage opportunities. Support the daily operations of the shelter, ensuring services are delivered effectively, safely, and consistently. Facilitate and monitor resident engagement activities that promote a safe, respectful, and community-oriented living environment. Communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—with residents, staff, community partners, and law enforcement as needed to address situational needs. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in HMIS and/or case records, including incident reports and service tracking. Perform routine facility upkeep, including light housekeeping and maintaining cleanliness of indoor and outdoor spaces. Conduct and document regular site walkthroughs (interior and exterior) to ensure safety, security, and program compliance. Monitor for and respond to emergencies, including medical, behavioral health, environmental, or safety incidents; follow established protocols and escalate as needed. Report unsafe or unusual conditions immediately; contact on-call management during evenings, weekends, or in the absence of onsite supervision. Maintain appropriate inventory levels by restocking supplies and reporting programmatic needs. Attend and actively participate in all required meetings, trainings, and professional development activities. Perform other duties as assigned to support program operations.JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Demonstrated knowledge of homelessness, housing instability, and barriers faced by individuals experiencing homelessness. Understanding behavioral health, including mental health, substance use disorders, and trauma-informed care principles. Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment. Ability to maintain professional boundaries and exercise sound judgment in crisis situations. Must successfully pass a criminal background and fingerprint clearance.EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or GED required Minimum of one (1) year of experience working with vulnerable or special populations, including individuals experiencing homelessness.CERTIFICATES / LICENSES / CLEARANCES
Successful completion of criminal background and fingerprint clearance required.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual and bicultural (Spanish preferred). Lived experience of homelessness and/or engagement with behavioral health systems. Experience in street outreach, shelter operations, or case management. Familiarity with Contra Costa County resources and coordinated entry systems. Knowledge of HMIS documentation and service tracking requirements.PHYSICAL DEMANDS
