Shipping and Receiving Specialist Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Specialist works in a warehouse environment handling incoming and outgoing electrical supplies. This role focuses on accurately packaging, labeling, and processing orders, unloading and loading trucks, and maintaining precise inventory records using computer systems and scanners. The position requires strong attention to detail, comfort with physical work, and the ability to work variable hours based on workload. Responsibilities Work in either the shipping or receiving area of the warehouse, depending on operational needs. Package and ship electrical supplies, ranging from small labeled parts in boxes to large electrical spools with non-live wiring. Prepare items for internal processing or external shipment to clients, ensuring all materials are properly secured and ready for transport. Load outgoing products onto trucks or flatbeds in a safe and efficient manner. Unload incoming trucks in the loading and receiving areas, handling materials carefully to avoid damage. Use scanners and computer systems to input products into the inventory system and maintain accurate records. Set up shipments in the computer system, including entering shipment details and generating necessary documentation. Coordinate with vendors and carriers to arrange shipments and ensure timely delivery or pickup. Track inventory using computer systems, scanners, and warehouse procedures to maintain accurate stock levels. Unpack and pack all orders, verifying that all items, quantities, and part numbers are correct before processing or shipping. Perform data entry tasks related to shipping, receiving, and inventory control in systems such as SAP or similar platforms. Use warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts to move, stage, and organize materials. Conduct cycle counts and assist with general inventory control activities as needed. Perform order picking and material handling tasks to support warehouse operations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rayville, LA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
