Job Title:
Shipping and Receiving Coordinator Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator oversees daily warehouse shipping and receiving operations, ensuring all incoming and outgoing merchandise is accurately documented, properly processed, and efficiently moved to the correct locations. This role verifies shipment documentation, coordinates transportation, supports cost-effective logistics, and maintains organized records while promoting safety, continuous improvement, and clear communication across the team. Responsibilities Verify all incoming shipments against packing slips and bills of lading, checking for accuracy and visible damage. Communicate promptly with suppliers, freight companies, and customers to resolve discrepancies and shipping-related issues. Ensure merchandise is processed efficiently, including labeling and pricing, and routed to the appropriate sales and storage areas. Arrange for merchandise to be returned to suppliers or delivered to customers, selecting the most appropriate and cost-effective method of transport. Prepare complete and accurate shipping documents for all outbound and inbound shipments. Compile and maintain activity reports on shipping and receiving operations, ensuring all related files and records are organized and up to date. Calculate estimated costs associated with shipping and delivery activities and recommend cost-effective alternatives when appropriate. Monitor and support the cost-effectiveness of the department by controlling labor utilization, minimizing excess hours, downtime, and overtime, and ensuring efficient use of transportation-related equipment. Promote and support safety policies within the department, encouraging safe work practices at all times. Recommend and assist in implementing operating procedures that enhance efficiency and promote continuous improvement within the department and across the company. Follow ISO processes and procedures, and make recommendations for improvement when applicable. Maintain clear and consistent communication with the direct lead and other project team members regarding ongoing activities and issues. Perform other duties, tasks, and responsibilities as assigned to support overall warehouse and logistics operations. Essential Skills Hands-on experience with shipping and receiving processes in a warehouse environment. Practical knowledge of inventory handling and logistics workflows. Proficiency in data entry to accurately record shipment and inventory information. Experience with warehouse shipping operations and material handling. Ability to operate or work around forklifts and related warehouse equipment, as required by the role. Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and completeness. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced warehouse environment. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for resolving shipping and logistics issues. Solid organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, documentation, and priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with suppliers, carriers, customers, and internal teams. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Ability to multitask and manage several responsibilities simultaneously. Reliability and dependability in attendance and task completion. Ability to accomplish tasks without constant supervision and take initiative when needed. Additional Skills & Qualifications Familiarity with ISO processes and willingness to contribute to process improvements. Experience promoting or supporting safety policies in a warehouse or logistics environment. recommending and implementing operational procedures or continuous improvement initiatives. Comfort working with transportation-related equipment and coordinating various modes of shipment. Work Environment This role is based in a warehouse environment that operates Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with the expectation of working 1-2 Saturdays per month. The environment is fast-paced and hands-on, involving regular interaction with inventory, shipping and receiving areas, transportation-related equipment, and material handling tools. The position requires adherence to established safety policies and ISO processes, as well as consistent follow-through on tasks to ensure all work meets quality and performance expectations. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Carlsbad, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
