Catoosa, OK Department:
Service Reports To:
Service Manager Vermeer Great Plains - 100% Employee-Owned Company Vermeer Great Plains is an authorized distributor for Vermeer equipment across Kansas, Oklahoma, and Western Missouri, with five branch locations throughout the region. As a 100% employee-owned company, we provide sales, rentals, parts, and service support to customers in tree care, landscaping, wood waste, recycling, underground construction, and mining industries.
Position Function:
The Shop Foreman oversees daily shop operations to ensure efficient workflow, high-quality repairs, and a safe, organized work environment. This role coordinates technician assignments, performs quality inspections, and provides technical leadership and mentorship while delivering outstanding customer service.
What You'll Do:
  • Coordinate and prioritize all shop repairs and equipment maintenance.
  • Assign work to technicians based on skill level to maintain consistent workflow.
  • Perform final quality inspections to ensure repairs meet company standards.
  • Enforce all health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ensure repair deadlines and customer expectations are met.
  • Perform equipment repairs and diagnostics as needed.
  • Address and resolve customer questions or concerns professionally.
  • Provide daily progress updates to the Service Manager.
  • Close internal and warranty work orders as required.
  • Mentor and support technician development and performance.
  • Maintain accurate and complete service records.
  • Ensure shop tools, equipment, building, and lot are clean, safe, and well maintained.
  • Stay current with industry trends and training through Vermeer and VGP programs.
  • Follow all company policies and safety procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Bring:
  • Strong leadership ability with a hands-on technical background.
  • Advanced mechanical and diagnostic knowledge of heavy equipment systems.
  • Excellent organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • High commitment to safety, professionalism, and customer service.
  • Proficiency with MS Office; CDK experience a plus.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs and work in shop and outdoor environments.
  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Applied Science, Diesel Mechanics, Diesel Technology, or related field, plus 5 years of technician experience in heavy or industrial equipment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years of leadership experience required.
  • 5+ years Vermeer Technician experience preferred.
  • Vermeer Core Skills Certification required within 6 months.
  • Vermeer Advanced Technician Certification required within 18 months.
  • Two engine manufacturer certifications required within 1 year.
  • Valid unrestricted Driver's License required.
  • Background check, pre-employment drug test, and clean driving record required.
