Job Description
Category Schools - Sign Language Interpreter Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting high school students as a contract Sign Language Interpreter in a school setting. This essential role is perfectly suited for dedicated professionals passionate about bridging communication gaps and fostering inclusive educational environments. Two full-time positions are available, each offering 37.5 hours per week of meaningful one-on-one interpreting with students who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Qualifications:
A minimum score of 3.5 on the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) is required Proven skills and experience in sign language interpretation, especially within educational or school settings Ability to provide clear, accurate, and confidential interpretation for students in both academic and extracurricular situations Strong interpersonal and communication skills, collaborating effectively with students, teachers, and staff Adherence to professional and ethical standards for educational interpretersYour Key Responsibilities:
Deliver reliable, consistent, and thorough interpreting services for a designated high school student throughout the school day Facilitate communication between student, teachers, peers, and school personnel in classrooms, meetings, and school events Support student accessibility and engagement in all aspects of their educational experience Adapt interpreting approach to suit each student's individual needs, subject matter, and environment Maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times, supporting the educational team with insights on best practices for accessibility This contract position offers the chance to make a tangible difference in students' academic journeys, working in a collaborative and supportive educational environment close to Iola, TX.
