Job Description

Manage renewable generation projects from pre-bid and buyout through construction and final acceptance. After final acceptance, oversee operation of the renewable generation asset. Oversee the planning, design, licensing, construction, and start-up of new renewable energy power projects. Lead or provide support for various phases of new renewable energy development projects, including contract negotiations, review of emerging technologies, and issues related to environmental, land, and quality assurance. Ensure compliance with power purchase agreement and large generator interconnect agreements. Manage the day-to-day operations of renewable power plants, while overseeing third party operations and maintenance contractor. Maintain a focus on safety, regulatory integrity, operational excellence, and providing exceptional customer service to both internal and external stakeholders. Develop and execute an operations and maintenance budget for the power plant in accordance with the overall financial goals of BHE Renewables. Responsible for all activities that occur at the plant. Manages financial performance including day-ahead market offers, reviewing power purchase agreement settlements, reviewing and approving the day-to-day project expenditures and budgets including both capital and O&M funds. Manage the proper receiving, recording, documentation, and dissemination of all land agreements, land contracts, and joint venture operating agreements, as well as all reports for the organization's solar and wind properties. Ensure proper interpretation of land agreements and contracts so that extracts prepared for operations and accounting functions are accurate. Ensure the proper safeguarding of such records and proper control of data summaries, land maps, and contracts. Manage environmental permitting, compliance and mitigation. Interpret permits and other documents, as well as develop compliance assurance plans and inspection procedures. Represent the company's interests on various industry and governmental committees. Manages contractual responsibilities of large generator interconnect agreements and power purchase agreements to ensure regulatory compliance. Support evaluation and ongoing operations of market/power purchase agreements. Manages compliance, in working with the third-party operations and maintenance contractor to ensure timely submission of documentation to the appropriate agencies is completed on time and in compliance with all regulations. Develop project plans, provide direction, and coordinate project activities associated with the installation, evaluation, and implementation of emerging technologies involving renewable power. Complete due diligence required for potential acquisitions, including review of contractor's qualifications, contracts, schedules, budgets, plans, and specifications. Complete site assessments on projects before financial closing to ensure adequate scope of engineering and construction work. Develop, supervise and/or review designs of commercial and utility scale renewable projects. Perform additional responsibilities as requested or assigned. Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field is preferred or equivalent work experience. (Typically, six years of related, progressive work experience would be needed for candidates applying for this position who do not possess a bachelor's degree.) Eight years of related project management or renewable energy experience including three years supervisory management responsibilities. Knowledge in new renewable/alternative energy power projects preferred. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Effective interpersonal skills and leadership abilities. Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Project management skills; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently. The ability to work effectively with people of different backgrounds. The ability to work at heights. Must possess a valid driver's license.
