Small Engine Mechanic and Service center Person

A2Z Rental is currently looking for a Small Engine Mechanic and Service center Person A2Z Rentals a division of Scranton's Thruway Builders Supply is currently hiring a full time Small engine mechanic and service center person. Scranton's Thruway Builders Supply is a locally owned company that specializes in the retail and distribution of building/construction products within Western New York. With over 50 years in the Buffalo area and a recent acquisition our company is growing and looking for a dedicated employee to join our team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and fuel system issues in small engine equipment.
• Perform routine maintenance services such as oil changes, air filter replacements, and spark plug installations.
• Repair or replace defective parts including carburetors, ignition systems, and fuel lines.
• Test equipment for proper performance after repairs.
• Maintain accurate service records and logs.
• Keep the shop clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
• Provide excellent customer service and explain repairs when necessary.
• Order and manage parts inventory as needed.
• Properly identify materials and maintain inventory
• Assist with Inventory Control in counting and organizing materials.
• Assist customers
• Safely operate Forklift /Tow Motor
• Must have a high awareness for safety at all times
• The ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• The ability to communicate and interact with customers and coworkers in a positive manner
• The ability to pay attention to detail and follow work instructions
• Participates in all required training assignments.
• Displays teamwork and effort in performance of all duties.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent 3 years small engine repair experience Previous customer service or retail experience preferred Strong communication and interpersonal skills Basic computer skills (POS systems, scheduling software, etc.) Ability to multitask and stay organized in a busy environment Mechanical aptitude or willingness to learn about equipment is a plus Valid driver's license required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to work effectively in environments that may include noise, dust, and varying temperatures (hot and cold). Willingness to work weekends, extended hours, including overtime, as needed to meet production demands. Ability to stand for extended periods Occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs Comfortable indoors and outdoors This is a full time 40hr/ week position with competitive pay and benefits including group medical insurance, 401K plan, paid time off and holidays.
