Job Description
The Constitutional Federalism Initiative (CFI) at UVU's Center for Constitutional Studies is dedicated to advancing public officials' understanding of the U.S. Constitution's federal system and fostering interstate collaboration towards a robust, balanced, constitutional federalism. The CFI Intern will support research and events that connect state and local officials, scholars, and students on issues of constitutional federalism and state executive governance. Collaborates with the Herbert Institute for Public Policy and the Center for Constitutional Studies staff, faculty, and program partners.
Research and Writing:
Conduct literature and statutory/administrative code reviews; synthesize findings into memos, summaries, and talking points; assist with editing, citations, and document preparation.Conference and Program Support:
Assist with logistics for CFI conferences and events (registration, agendas, speaker coordination, materials, day-of support); help prepare presentations, briefing packets, and post-event summaries.Stakeholder Engagement:
Communicate professionally with state officials and external partners via email, phone, and in-person; schedule meetings and prepare materials; maintain contact lists, track outreach, and support follow-up actions.Administrative Support:
Organize files and data in Word and Excel; maintain project trackers; contribute to team meetings; take notes and manage action items. Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Must be a current UVU student. Background in political science or public administration (major, minor, or substantial coursework). Preferred Qualifications Coursework in American government, public administration, constitutional law, or federalism. Experience drafting policy briefs, research memos, or annotated bibliographies. Familiarity with event logistics and stakeholder communications. Knowledge of Utah state government structure and processes. Experience with citation styles (e.g., Chicago, Bluebook) and basic data visualization in Excel.Knowledge:
Background in political science or public administration (major, minor, or substantial coursework).Skills:
Excellent writing and editing skills with attention to accuracy, structure, and tone. Excellent interpersonal skills, professionalism, and discretion when engaging with public officials and partners. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.Abilities:
