The purpose of this position is to provide planning services for current and long-range planning projects.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Interprets zoning and code and advises citizens on zoning related matters. Conducts intake with citizens and petitioners for permits, annexations, rezonings, sign packages, and similar development proposals. Receives, manages and distributes development plans for review to multiple City departments. Routes other related planning related documents to impacted City departments for review and comment. Reviews plats and plans to ensure compliance with the Concord Development Ordinance (CDO). Issues permits and conducts zoning inspections to ensure compliance with approved plans. Advises on various issues related to projects to ensure adherence to applicable guidelines, standards, and provisions. Serves as the primary point of contact for sign permits and comprehensive sign packages. Works closely with Planning and Zoning staff to ensure compliance with the special use permit process. Assists in the update and maintenance of the Concord Development Ordinance (CDO).

Licensing and Certifications:

Valid North Carolina Driver's License Possession of or ability to obtain Certified Zoning Official Certification (CZO) within two (2) years from date of hire. Failure to obtain within two (2) years of hire may result in termination.
