Job Description

STARTING RATE OF PAY
$94,800-$118,500 (D.O.E.) Planner III assists with many of Park City's high-profile and exciting land use applications, including ski resort development, affordable housing development, Land Management Code amendments, and long-range planning initiatives. Under the general direction of the Planning Director, the Planner III timely guides land use applicants through the review process and provides information to community members regarding planning and zoning.
TYPICAL JOB DUTIES
Reviews building permits and conducts site inspections (25%). Supports business license reviews and research (5%). Processes sign permits and administrative permits (5%). Processes Conditional Use Permits and Subdivisions/Plats (250%). Assists with Master Planned Developments (20%). Manages Land Management Code amendments (15%). Other duties as assigned or directed (5%).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Historic Preservation, Public Administration, or related field AICP certified or obtains AICP certification within six months of hire. 3 years of planning experience in a municipal organization/or private sector with similar responsibilities.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Graduate degree and/or 2-4 years relevant external or Park City Planning work experience. Experience in resort town planning and zoning, affordable housing and sustainable town planning.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk and hear. The employee is occasionally required to use hands to handle or operate objects, controls, or tools. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop and kneel. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
