Hirschler, a dynamic, multispecialty law firm headquartered in Richmond, Virginia, is seeking a highly motivated third-year law student graduating in May 2027 to join our Commercial Real Estate Practice as an entry-level associate in our Richmond office. This is an exciting opportunity to begin your legal career with a collaborative team that advises developers, investors, businesses, and property owners on a broad range of commercial real estate, land use, zoning, and entitlement matters throughout Virginia. About the Role As a member of our Commercial Real Estate Practice, you will work alongside experienced attorneys on sophisticated matters involving: Commercial real estate acquisitions and dispositions Leasing transactions Development and financing projects Due diligence, including title and survey review Land use and zoning approvals Rezoning and entitlement processes From the outset, you will have meaningful responsibility, direct client exposure, and opportunities to participate in public hearings, client meetings, and transactional matters while developing the skills necessary to become a trusted advisor. What You'll Do Conduct due diligence for commercial real estate transactions and development projects Draft and review purchase agreements, leases, development-related agreements, loan documents, and other transaction documents Work with clients, engineers, planners, environmental consultants, and other professionals involved in development projects Research legal issues and prepare written analyses, memoranda, and correspondence Assist with land use, zoning, and entitlement matters under Virginia law and local ordinances Support the preparation of applications for rezonings, conditional use permits, special exceptions, variances, and other land use approvals Participate in interactions with planning commissions, boards of supervisors, zoning appeal boards, and other governmental bodies Qualifications J.D. anticipated in May 2027 Strong academic credentials Demonstrated interest in real estate, development, land use, or zoning Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills Strong interpersonal and communication abilities Collaborative mindset and eagerness to learn Willingness to sit for the Virginia Bar Exam, following graduation Why Hirschler?
