Hours:

1 hour visit, 2 to 3 days p/week (Flexible days, immediately after school is preferred)

Pay Rate:

$21.00 per visit (45 mins to 1-hour visits; any longer than that and she gets tired. It's a perfect setup for multiple students to split/share the weekly schedule! Seeking responsible, highly engaging Millikan High School students to provide after-school companionship for Sharon, a very caring retired family therapist and high school guidance counselor. Sharon lives in a comfortable care home close to campus. She is currently under-stimulated and absolutely loves interacting with high school students. This is a rewarding, non-medical role focused entirely on relational stimulation, social connection, and friendly engagement. Sharon has long-term Parkinson's and mild dementia; while her short-term memory is affected, she still remembers people, projects clear ideas, and is eager to share her life experiences.

Duties Include:

Engaging in meaningful conversation: Chatting about life in a way that is light, comfortable, and meaningful.

Answering questions:

Sharon is very curious and loves to ask lots of questions to get to know the students visiting her.

Constructive projects:

Leading light, creative, or brain-stimulating activities and projects together.

Shared entertainment:

Watching movies together and chatting about them.

Requirements:

Excellent communication skills: Must be a naturally warm, expressive, and open conversationalist who enjoys sharing details about their own day and life. Empathy & patience: High emotional intelligence, ideal for students interested in psychology, counseling, or healthcare.
