JOB DUTIES

DIRECT SERVICE (70%) Provides weekly one-on-one advising focused on career readiness, workforce skills, and non-academic needs Plans and facilitates weekly workforce workshops Visits job placement sites regularly to support and check in with YPAs Assists in YPA hiring, including but not limited to gathering documentation, onboarding, monitoring employment, and supporting terminations Builds trusting relationships with youth using strength-based, trauma-informed, and healing-centered practices Conducts outreach to promote the program and drive participation Conducts intake and assessment for new students joining the caseload, in collaboration with referring staff Connects caseload students to academic, wellness, and basic-needs resources via referral follow-up Plans and supports successful transitions for students exiting caseload support, connecting them to appropriate school-based or community resources Facilitates at least one social-emotional skills group each semester Refers academic needs (tutoring, credit recovery, counseling) to appropriate school staff; connects youth to career and workforce development supports directly Coordinates with school-day staff (SST, IEP, SAP) as needed to support referrals and communication Assists in affinity groups as relevant.

ADMINISTRATION

(20%) Completes session notes, timesheets, attendance, and check requests per policy Reviews weekly attendance data for workshops and worksite placements to identify and follow up on concerning patterns Maintains accurate records and data in the program database; submits progress reports Manages emails, calendar, surveys, lesson plans, school events and field trip plans Adapts or develops curriculum for one-on-ones and groups Manages hiring forms, onboarding requirements, and termination paperwork along with student consent forms and survey data collection Attends staff and supervision meetings as needed Follows mandated reporting, ExCEL incident reporting ,and Professional Boundaries procedures.

COMMUNITY PARTNERING

(10%) Builds and maintains relationships with businesses and organizations hosting YPAs Maintains communication with other youth-serving organizations. Connects with the Family Resource Center and other programs to meet the needs of the student.

SFUSD Instructional Aide Requirements:

An AA degree or higher or Official transcripts reflecting 48 college units and a high school diploma/equivalent or Completion of CBEST and a high school diploma/equivalent or Successful completion of the Instructional Aide exam (can take this in tandem with hiring process)

Experience :

Minimum one year of experience working with High School aged youth in a support role through one-on-one and/or group level interventions A demonstrated commitment to working with diverse populations, particularly centering Black, Latinx, and Indigenous student perspectives; LGBTQQ+ individuals; and those identifying as neurodivergent Some college experience, but a degree is not required

Critical Consciousness:

​Able to weave equity and cultural relevance into all aspects of planned activities. Able to plan and facilitate programming intentionally. Understanding of marginalized communities. Fluency in English is required. Bilingual skills are highly desired First Aid/CPR Certified desired Alumni of SFUSD preferred

Strong understanding of the cultural, social, and educational needs of Black and Latinx students. Proven ability to develop and implement engaging and culturally responsive curricula. Ability to work collaboratively with students, school staff, community organizations, and external partners Demonstrated commitment to promoting equity, inclusion, and social justice in education Deep understanding and lived experience of the cultural backgrounds and experiences of the students served, particularly those from Black and Latinx communities Ability to empathize with and advocate for the unique challenges faced by historically underinvested students Commitment to creating an inclusive and affirming environment that celebrates diversity and promotes student success
