An Academic or Guidance Counselor provides guidance to students in elementary, middle and high schools to help them succeed academically and socially. Works with school teachers and administrators to address problems that affect student performance, and identifies resources for students and families. Helps high school students to plan academic course work and advises on the college search and application process.

Job Description

The After-School Program counselor position is Monday-Friday 2:30 pm to 6:00 pm. Extra hours available over winter break and spring break, plus the week before school starts in August and the week after school ends in June.
Must haves:
experience working with children ages 2 to 12 years old, professional, communication skills, be able to follow directions, problem solving skills, facilitate student play and activities Duties include: snack set up, escorting students to activities, supervising students at play and homework room, diaper changing for younger students, flexibility to work with different age groups Candidate must be able to pass a background check and there is on the job training. If you are interested in working with students in the 2-5 years age group, then you must complete additional training required by the state of Delaware. Candidate must have a high school diploma or GED. The job begins the last week of August and continues through the end of the school year.
